I'm working on creating a win7 hardware independent image in 7.1.

On our Optiplex desktops (780 and 745) the sound driver isn't installing properly (Soundmax Integrated Digitial Hi Def).

Post image, in device manager, it shows as "high definition audio device" & there is no sound on the machine.

I downloaded the driver files from Dell and pointed deploy anywhere at the folder, but the only file that seems to upload is the generic ADIHdAud.inf, it's ignoring the .exe in screenshot I guess.  I tried DriverMax on a known good machine - pulls same files Dell gave me.

On a post image machine, if I go to device manager and do update driver, and point it to the same driver folder from Dell, it correctly updates to Soundmax Integrated Hi Def Audio.. so I know the files it needs are in there.

It seems deploy anywhere isn't sure how to handle drivers when there is an .exe included in with them.  I have a similar issue with a finger print reader driver on Latitude e6400s (unknown device shows up as Broadcom USH).

How do people handle drivers like this?

I found this old thread from a SCCM user who ran into similar issues

    Sally5432,

It will be helpful if you provide more information , on how you are executing this task.

    Mainly, how you are using the DeployAnywhere when you retarget the machine, And how did you verified the generic inf file is uploaded;

You can verify the driver folder at C:\Drivers\Symantec\Retarget which contains all the drivers which is been copied for retarget .

I'm checking the box when deploying an image that says "Include DeployAnywhere for hardware independent imaging."

When I look at my list of drivers in Driver Database Management, I search for the file name of the .inf in the Dell audio driver folder (adih) and it shows 2 drivers for "analogdevices.adihAudAddService"

When I look at C:\Drivers\Symantec\Retarget, the only driver listed seems to be NIC driver - attached driver

    Sally5432,

    Thanks for the details.

Your steps are correct , and it should work . mean while can you try this :

    1. Reboot the client machine to automation

    2. Copy from server or map the NS server : \\server\Deployment\Task Handler\ghost\x86\DeployAnywhere.exe

    3. Execute the deployanywhere command manually :

    deployanywhere.exe /target=c: /handlenoncriticaldrivers=minisetup /ddb="<share>\task handler\DriverDB" /logpath=x:\DALOG\

Please send the above generated logfile "deployanywhere.txt" for debugging purpose.

    So attaching screenshots.

I looked at driver details in deploy anywhere and the details seem to match what it's looking for.
