  • 1.  Importing Private Key,Passphrase(keyPair) to PGP Command Line

    Posted Nov 21, 2013 05:27 PM

I used Go anywhere openPGP Studio to generate my public/ private key . How would I import these key and passphrase to PGP command line 9.0 so I can decrypt the file that were encrypted with the public key i generated from Goanywhere open PGP. When i tried to import my key pair i got error saying "3090:operation failed, unknown error). I am switching back to open pgp so that I can automate the encryption and decryption. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. I was able to import my clients public key at ease.

    Thank you

    Hi UPAIT,

Please have a look at the article Import PGP Key into PGP Command Line - TECH149827. Did you use the proper sintax?

Perhaps the application you are using is not completely implementing the OpenPGP protocol. Can you attempt to generate a new keypair with PGP Command Line [--gen-key] ?

This article may also be usefull PGP Command Line 10.x List Of Commands/Options - TECH148895.

    Hope this helps,

Thank you for your response. Yes everytime i try to import the key pair I get "3090:Operation Failed Unknown error"

I am sure I am using the right syntax. Please advise me if there is anything I can do to import the key pair.

    Thank you,

    UPAIT

    Hi UPAIT,

With GoAnywhere OpenPGP Studio - version: 1.0.1 I created a PGP key with the properties below.
    Key Type: RSA
    Key size: 2048
    Expires On: Never

Then, I exported the Key Pair and imported it successfuly into PGP Command Line 10.3 build 215. After, I tested again with a Diffie-Hellman/DSS key and it also seems to work.

Alg  Type Size/Type Flags   Key ID     User ID
    ----- ---- --------- ------- ---------- -------
     RSA4 pair 2048/2048 [-----] 0xD6C1777C Test Import <test@import.loc>
    *DSS  pair 1024/1024 [-----] 0x305C4BB8 Test Import DH-DSS <test@import-dhdss.loc>

Please check if the issue occurs with the latest versions.
