Inbound and outbound filters can be specified as such when setting up the compliance policy.

Please read page 48 in the Admin Guide for more information on outbound filtering:

    sbg_administration_guide.pdf

Here is a document on how to add a signature to all outgoing emails. The document refenced version 7.6, but it is the same for 8.

Title: 'How to annotate all outgoing messages in Symantec Mail Security Appliance 7.6.x'

    Hi Ashraf,

JDavis has provided the excellent resources that you should look at before configuring outbound filtering, but I would like to highlight a couple of things:

    a) If a policy was created as applying to both "Inbound and Outbound", then if you enable outbound, generally it will apply to outbound as well.  But if a policy was created as "Inbound Only", then it will not apply to outbound if you enable outbound filtering.  For such a policy to apply to outbound, you will have to create a new policy specifying that it applies to outbound.

    b) You can ensure which policies are applying to inbound or outbound by checking each tab (like Virus, Spam, Compliance) on Group Settings page (Administration > Groups > Default ) for each of the policy groups you have (by default there is only one group called "Default").

    Regards,

    Adnan

    Dear Users

    Our Scenario

    We have 2 SBG

One is scanner and control centre and other is only scanner.

Curruntly we are using inbound mail filtering and it is working without any issue.

Now we have configured inbound and outbound filtering.

we have configured one domain for inbound and another domain for outbound using 2 IPs.
We have mapped this outbound domain with external DNS.
then when we send mail using this outboutbond MTA (using SMTP commands as shown below) (SBG outbound domain) mail not send and we got following error from "Mail Delivery System(Mailer-Daemon@antispam.kfupm.edu.sa)"
    *************************
    telnet 10.140.2.70 25

But if send mail to our internal domain using outbound domain ,it is sending and outbound policy also working.

    Hi Ashraf,

Did any of the responses provided address your original question?  If so can you please close this thread by marking that response as the Solution?

Let's deal with the outbound mail delivery issue separately in another thread that you have already opened.

    Thanks
