This issue has been solved. See solution.

We have a user who gets a red X where the list of incidents created by her should be. The rest of the page loads fine. Just the list is missing. Is it possible this is a security setting in IE7? I am attaching a screen shot of the problem.

ComponentOne Flexgrid is broken

The ComponentOne Flexgrid ActiveX control is broken.  I replicated the issue by disabling my ComponentOne Flexgrid ActiveX add-on in IE8.

Enable the Add-on in IE
or
Close all IE windows.  Browse to C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files and delete the ComponentOne FlexGrid file.  You could also delete the AppWeaverControls file if you believe it's also corrupt.  Relaunch IE and visit your Help Desk.

Does this solve your issue?

Helpdesk

Helpdesk does.  It gets installed when you first visit the page.  Make sure the client is running regular IE, not Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) and make sure security settings are set correctly.

  1. Tools
  2. Manage Add-ons
  3. Enable of Disable Add-ons
  4. Click Show Downloaded ActiveX Controls
  5. Make sure anything published by Altiris or ComponentOne is enabled
  6. Click OK
  7. Close IE
  8. Reopen IE
  9. Should work.

If you don't see the ComponentOne FlexGrid, it's not downloading from your Altiris server.  Verify that the VSFlex file exists at under *\Notification Server\NSCap\Bin\Win32\X86

Does that help?

Altiris KB article 25207

Altiris KB article 25207 documents the filename and how to manually install it if needed. The article says this happens after upgrading Helpdesk versions but it can happen anytime that activeX component gets corrupted in some manner or is missing.
