Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server)

Anyone know how to include the SMP 7.5 agent in hard drive images for use in PC deployments?  I seem to be coming up empty in my searches that relate to procedures for the 7.5 Altiris Agent.  Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the info although think I have to rephrase my question which originally came from one of my techs.  Found out they're using Microsoft's MDT for OS deployment where they'd like to initiate the SMP 7.5 agent install after Windows is loaded.

So I'm really looking for a simple executable (or perhaps a URL?) that'll kick off the Altiris client install without any prompts.  Any ideas on this?  Thanks!

FYI: Have yet to test this but found HOWTO2852 (https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO2852.html) on the manual install of the Altiris Agent!  Looks like it's just a matter of getting AeXNSC.exe off the SMP server then adding the command-line parameters to fit your needs.

In my environment I'm not putting anything in the Start Menu and System Tray, and when doing a push it certainly doesn't prompt for a reboot so need to suppress this.  Figure I need to test the following example command-line...

aexnsc.exe -s -a ns="hostname.domain.com" nsweb=http://hostname.domain.com/altiris NOSTARTMENU NOTRAYICON /s

Note that there should be quotes ("") around the nsweb parameter but the Symantec editor removed them.  Anyway, hopefully this will do the trick for me.

Hi Clint,

I wrote a script some time ago which is available as a download. The script downloads the agent from the NS so you always get the latest version of the agent installed when deploying a pc.
