  • 1.  Incorrect information displayed

    Its happening more and more as i move around my altiris 7.1 console.  At first i thought refreshing the web page would help but its defiantly not.

    I have an inventory policy set up to do an inventory of my PC's weekly.  i recently went though all the newly discovered software, but a PC that had not been inventoried before finally sent its inventory. 

    for whatever reason the computer was removed from the computers list.  i couldn't not find it at all.  eventually i went to the computer and had it send a basic inventory then it started showing up.  weird thing there is even though basic inventory interval is set for 1 hour, i had not sent its basic inventory in over 2 hours.  that seems to be the case with a lot of my PCs.

    back to the newly discovered software, I'm seeing software in this list that i know for a fact is not on that computer but its showing up anyway.  it almost seems to be a combination of 2 PC's and its showing the software wrong in my list for both.

    More specifically yet, AGO004 is a developer PC and AGO266 is for a police officer.  its showing Microsoft visual studio as being installed on AGO266, when its absolutely not installed on that PC.  and its showing Tazer software on AGO004, when its defiantly not on that PC.  its like their software lists are swapped between the two PC's

    I'm seeing this all over the place all the time!  its very frustrating!  i don't want to have to do targeted software inventory jobs to the PC's all the time.  i want the information to be correct from the first inventory.

    anyone else having similar problems?  i have no idea how to go about this issue.  there are no updates for altiris in the Symantec installation manager.

    Were the PC's clones of each with the SMA installed?

    If so you could run into a situtation where both computers have the same GUID so whichever one updates the database with invnetory data last will be the one you will see in the console and it's associated data.

    My recommendation would be to uninstall the agent from both PC's and delete the records in the console. Then reinstall a clean agent to each one and see if your problem persists.

    ok more incorrect information displayed.

    when i try to uninstall the agent from the computers by going to actions->agents and plugins->push symantec management agent.  when i add the computer to the list and select to uninstall, when i do a refresh to see what the progress is, the comptuer name in the list changes.

    im lucky i only have about 250 comptuers i manage, if i had 6000 some, i dont see how i could trust anything in the altiris console.

    I've found the same behaviour in some customer.

    Check if you a have resolution problem in Active Directory. it SEEMS related to some resolutoin ISSUE.

    if i'll find any further information i'll keep this thread updated
