    Hello,
I encounter a problem with a fresh install of SMP7. My config is :
Virtual Machine VMWare with Windows 2003 OS STD SP2, with .NET 3.5. All prerequisites are OK.
SQL Server is a remote server, with SQL 2005 SP3 Enterprise server. An empty database is created for use with Altiris.

I've downloaded the last SIM from Altiris.com
When I try to install the SMP Platform SP4, or any suite or solution, in the database config window, I'm able to choice the right server and database. But when I click Next, I've the following message :
Failed to connect to Server or login failed
    Incorrect syntax near 'accueil'
Unclosed quotation mark after character string ')'
If I try to create a database from the SIM, same thing. We've verified a lot of points in the SQL Server. The user used isn't a full sql admin, but has rights to the database.
    Any idea ?
    Greg

have any space, underscores or special characters in them? I've seen this cause problems from time to time, and I think these were addressed, but I'm not positive.

The person installing has to have rights to create databases, and be the DBO on this DB of course, since this is the account that will be used moving forward for everything in the application.  Also be sure you're logged on as that "person" or account, at least for the installation.

Outside of that, I've not seen this.

Though... there is one other possibility.  The SIM's PL is updated on a regular basis as patches and such are released.  At times, a PL is released that is... incorrect.  It is possible that you simply need to try again another day and the problem will be gone.  This kind of error generally points to something code related, not security related, and so my FIRST guess as a troubleshooter would be something outside your control.

OH, and do look for odd characters in account names and passwords.  They can really mess up scripts that may interpret the characters as code instead of names.
