This issue has been solved. See solution.

On my B2D data drive (Volume) which is the only thing there.

Should I un-check "Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties".

This setting has no effect

This setting has no effect one way or the other on the operation of the B2D folder.  You can turn it off if you to save CPU an I/O's on the index operation.  I guess you would not need a fast search on this volume.

Indexing the OS disk can suck

Indexing the OS disk can suck performance and increase disk I/O unnecessarily. I prefer and recommend to disable this feature as a matter of practice.

Make sure this setting is

Make sure this setting is disabled if using a DeDup folder however as it is a potential cause of corruption within a DeDup folder structure.
