SBS2008 Best Practices and Exclusion Policies

Are there Best Practices white papers for Small Business Server 2008 as there were for SBS2003 including exclusion policies?  SEP is apparently affecting the SBS console reporting, particularly "Other Alerts."  Its very slow and seems to be only related to SBS2008 servers with SEP installed from what I'm researching reading Microsoft forums and here as well.

Any update on SBS 2008 Compatibility

Hi Paul,

Any updates on SBS 2008 we need to keep in mind? We did see some issues with DHCP and DNS on the SBS itself when only installing the AV AS components.

SEPM is eating away the RAM as well...

This thread should be updated

Paul it would be nice if the known new bugs would be listed or linked here together with the information and release notes of the new version.

A lot of users wait with new releases to make sure there are no crucial bugs that might affect them. It would therefore be good to have them all collected in one place so that we can make a good judgement to which version to use.

I also added this idea that you can vote for here:

@albert

SEP 12.0 was released for small customers/businesses  (5 to 99 seats) whereas SEP 11.0 is for big companies.

SEP 11.0 MR5 will be able to support Windows 7 and hopefully minimize  problems on this operating system.

Thanks for posting that link

Thanks for posting that link Andrew... It looks like some enhancements have been made (hopefully they all work).  Since it was modified today it hopefully means RU5 will be released soon.

Just when I was getting used

Just when I was getting used to MR4MP2 - I'm doing a big push in 2 weeks to over 3500 users.  Should I really consider MR5?

I think I'd rather wait a while.

New Name for updates

It appears that Symantec wants to call the new Releases - Release Updates.

So this new RU5 is being downloaded to my test environment as we speak.  I had to start with my management console, stop the services, reboot then update my existing MR4MP2 version.  I'll let you know how it goes.  I'm going to be updating 25 users - that's all I have for testing purposes so far.

Thanks for the heads up Symantec.

I will also start testing as soon as there is some time over...

Unfortunately all this testing eats up time..... :(

Maintenance Release for SEP SBE v12?

@Tech Support, any idea when a maintenance release will be out for SEP SME v12 that will fix the 'Symantec Endpoint Protection is on but is reporting its status to Windows Security Center in a format that is no longer supported' error, and add support for Windows 7?

Release 5 seems to work

Release 5 seems to work fine.  We are in the process of rolling out to several hundred each night until complete.  Testing was successful.

Be careful about using MR5 (11.0.5002.0 or 11.0.5002.333) with..

...QuickBooks 2007 or 2008 and its Database Server agent.

It will wreak havoc when trying to open up QuickBooks company files...
