Ghost Solution Suite

Having an issue where a unkown pc boots to automation and i get to the selct job screen. I select the image job i want and the screen goes away, but nothing executes.  The console only shows the job status as being in "Initial Deployment" with "Waiting for User Choice..." but i already selected the image job???

Is this happening for every choice or just one specific one?

Hey EdT, thanks for replying.  Every choice, every machine so far.  Honeslty, I'm not sure where too look when it happens as its in WinPE at that point and i do not know where logging occurs then.  If you could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it.

Do you have SSL enabled in your Altiris environment? One issue could be certificates aren't working correctly for the WinPE session to reach back to the server. Just a thought...

Logs are here in WinPE:

X:\Program Files\Symantec\Deployment\Logs

Open Notepad from the command line and set the option to Open "Files of Type" to "All Files". You'll see a few logs in there: "Pectgent" and "SMP", most likely. The SMP log should show whether it is reaching back successfully.

No SSL.  thanks tloe i'll take a look at those logs and see if something jumps out.

Looks like those logs are only for DS6, and not GSS3. Logging appears to be limited for PE in ghost...

Is this on initial deployment or redeployment or both types of image jobs?

just trying to get initial deploy to work.

Any other advice for this one?  Unknown machine boots into automation, it lists the jobs i have added to initial deploy. I select the Job i want and the box disappears.  The console shows Waiting for user input, but there isnt anything else to choose.  The CMD box does show startup complete...not sure where to look to see whats going on.

i can drag and drop the same job to the workstation in the console, delete the existing initial deploy job and it kicks off with no problem...

anybody?  ehh ehh? its a strange one. Any pointers on what logs to look at when this happens would be appreciated.
