  • 1.  Insight and Bit9 compatibility question

    Hello,

    I'm writing because I'm having a problem upgrading bit9 6.0 to 7.0 because Symantec Insight is blocking the installation and having it fail? Can anyone direct me to where or who can answer why this is happening or who can help me? My users about 200 hundered that need this issue resolved. Like always this is a problem that needs to be solved ASAP the bit9 engineers don't know Symantec or why this is occuring?

    Hello,

    Insight is a reputation based protection technology that can help to prevent unknown or encrypted malwares. It calculates reputation scores from some specific properties of every file and check if it pre-exist in Symantec Reputation Database before. Regarding the answer coming from the database (trusted,not trusted,not exist), your clients get some actions that coming from their manager or own selves like Clean,Quarantine,Delete,Log etc.

    So, if your files (in this case bit9) is not known from Reputation Database or your copies are not trusted, then it maybe deleting or quaranting files automaticaly.
