Since the beginning of Norton 2010 , it started using the reputation based technology Download Insight / Quorum / Insight Network . Later , we started seeing the results in Virus Total (which are now removed) .
In some blog article here I remember I have read that Symantec plan to integrated the reputation based system in SEP . My question is simple - when ?
When and if this is going to happen - approximately ?
In my opinion such a technology is very important to improve detection for various threats . Norton is perfect at detecting malware (thanks to behaviour based SONAR and Download Insight) , which I can't say the same for SEP. SEP is OK , in my opinion .
Even though this test (here) was sponsored by Trend Micro , what is says regaring Symantec Endpoint Protection as a conclusion is true :
-
Symantec performed the best at the Infection and dynamic layer, which helped their overall
score, but also means they are still focused on blocking threats using their signature-based or
behavior-based detection methods.
Symantec is an excellent company , provides excellent support services and their Norton product is perfect . Why not SEP also benefit from some of the Norton feautures when there is one company that makes the both products - SEP & NAV.
Thank you!
