Hi Nagalla,

now i've got the binaries for such client but i have this error :

root@mob-archive[/sources/NBU_7.5_bis]#/sources/NBU_7.5_bis/ssh_to_client -L bl890

please do

ls  /usr/openv/netbackup/client/sources/NBU_7.5_bis

and check if you are able to find the below file.

client_bin.tar.gz

and also make sure you have enough space in /tmp in client bl890.

Bendoumah Abdelaaziz's picture

no it doesn't exist in this path ; the file is in /sources/NBU_7.5_bis:

root@mob-archive[/sources/NBU_7.5_bis]#pwd

/sources/NBU_7.5_bis

root@mob-archive[/sources/NBU_7.5_bis]#ls -lrt | grep client_bin.tar.gz
-r-xr-xr-x   1 root     bin      73027333 Feb  8  2012 client_bin.tar.gz

on the client side it exist enough space on /tmp:

# df -k /tmp
/tmp                   (/dev/vg00/lvol6       ) : 10465520 total allocated Kb
                                                   2572024 free allocated Kb

No exactly a solution to the issue you face as such but just a suggestion ...

Perhaps just install this client locally so that you can see exactly what is happening and any error messages during the installation (if there are any - I prefer where possible to do local installations as they are always reliable - but that is just my preference)

Hope this helps

Hi,

we already did this option too but it failed also.

Best regards.

Nagalla's picture

client_bin.tar.gz is located in /sources/NBU_7.5_bis, but the ssh script is looking in the location

/usr/openv/netbackup/client/sources/NBU_7.5_bis.

so try to keep client_bin.tar.gz in the location /usr/openv/netbackup/client/sources/NBU_7.5_bis, and see how SSH goes.

"we already did this option too but it failed also."

does it saying your local installation also failed?

if yes , what is the error its giving?

did you make sure that you have correct binaries for the OS?

post  the install trace log.

To push Client software from the master, you first of all need to install it on the master server. This installation will put the Client binaries in /usr/openv/netbackup/client/.

See NBU Installation Guide for UNIX and Linux  http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3647

Read section called Remote (push) installations:

■ You can "push" the client software from your UNIX
NetBackup server to your UNIX client computers. The
UNIX client must be a true client and not a media server
or a master server. The preferred installation method is
to push the client software.
■ Before you can push to a UNIX client, you must first
install the NetBackup client type software on the server.
Then, you must create a policy that includes the client
name.
See “Installing client type software on a master server”
on page 68.

■ The following remote installation methods are available:
See “Installing client software with the ftp method”
on page 137.
See “Installing client software with the rsh method”
on page 134.
See “Installing client software with the ssh method”
on page 139.
See “Installing client software with the sftp method”
on page 139.

Hi,

@Nagalla:i already copied the .tar.gz file:

root@mob-archive[/sources/NBU_7.5_bis]#ls /usr/openv/netbackup/client/sources/
client_bin.tar.gz

but i face always the same error :

root@mob-archive[/sources/NBU_7.5_bis]#/sources/NBU_7.5_bis/ssh_to_client -L bl890

also we have the correct binaries.

@Marianne:normally we have the master server OS which is SOLARIS 10 and the client is also installed in the master server but the client that we want to install the software on it is HPUX 11.23.

shoud i put the install binaries in special path in the master server or what?

Best regards.

The NBU Installation Guide is your friend. (See link in my previous post.)

gzip and gunzip are listed as requirements under 'General Requirements':

■ The gzip and the gunzip commands must be installed
on the local system. The directories where these
commands are installed must be part of the root user’s
PATH environment variable setting.

The easiest way to push-install Client Binaries is to install client software for ALL of your Unix and Linux on the master, then patch client software (if client patch was previously installed on master, use -p to force-install). Push-install will now push latest/updated, patched software.
See section in Installation Guide mentioned in my previous post.

Hey, have you tried to installed localy on the server ? By putting the binaries of the client server it self,

Do that failed as well ? If yes then share the error you are getting.

For local installation, Gzip and gunzip must installed on server and directories must be part of the root user's path as mentioned by Marianne.

Nagalla's picture

hey,

do you have a another  HPUX 11.23 client which is having the successfull installation?

if yes,

just copy the /usr/openv/ from the successfull installed client to the one that you want to install

update the bp.conf with the new client name

update /etc/services

update /etc/inetd.conf

update the netbackup entries for above two files , by seeing the successfully installed client to new client.

Marianne's picture

I do NOT recommend copying binaries from another client.

This worked fine in with older NBU versions, but NBU 7.x installs software packages:

VRTSpbx
SYMCnbclt
SYMCnbjre
SYMCnbjava
