Install Disk Imaging and Partitioning Software in a layer?
Updated: 29 Jul 2010 | 1 comment
This issue has been solved. See solution.
I recall reading that certain kinds of software should not be installed in a virtual layer, including antivirus software and some kinds of low-level drivers.
Is it adviseable to install disk imaging software such as Macrium Reflect, and disk partitioning software such as EASEUS Partition Master in a virtual layer? I have already installed Macrium Reflect in a virtual layer but have not used it yet to create a disk image.
I am a not-very-knowledgeable individual, non-business user of SVS and SWV. My goal is to keep my base file system and Windows registry as clean as possible. Currently using Windows Vista SP2 32-bit, Symantec Workspace Virtualization 6.1.4063.

Hi RedBug
I would not recomend putting this software in a layer. First off, ther is no garantie that it would work, and secondly access to the HD's is a very low level operation. This can (and ususally does) take place BEFORE the OS starts loading the normal drivers, this would also include the SVS driver. Again, I would recommend NOT putting this application in a layer.
Cheers
Phil
