  • 1.  Install Issue on Windows 7 32bit

Hey guys. Been battling a tough problem with a SEP install on about 15 Windows 7 32bit machines. We have tried the following-

-Several different versions of the SEP Installer

    -Different users (local / domain)

-Reviewed log file from msi install and can't find anything useful

-Cleared out all of the stale user profiles

-Ran Cleanwipe with latest version numerous times

-Enabled Hidden Devices in device manager and removed any of the stale references to Symantec that cleanwipe missed

-Install with UAC on / off

-Launching the install using PSEXEC with the system account

-Ran process monitor trace and cannot find any access denied entries (spent hours looking through trace for clues)

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

And you still get this message even when the installer is run with admin rights?

Have you tried the install with only the core components selected?

Does the install work if installed locally rather then psexec? To rule out whether this is a local machine problem?

Well after many hours of work on this I finally got it installed. After installing about 7-10 pending Windows updates the installer started working. I am testing the resolution on another machine now to see if the Windows updates are what really fixed it on my test machine.

Well as always after tons of work a simple fix resolves the problem. Just installed about 8-10 pending patches on the machine and the SEP installer starts working with zero issues. Hopefully this thread will help someone one day.
