Hello,

Is there a way to install the Recovery Solution Server on a Windows XP machine, or is it completely impossible, and could be installed only on Windows 2000 server or later ?

Thanks & regards,

Only Windows 2000 and 2003 Server

Hi,

The recovery Solution Server only work in the Windows 2000 or 2003 server, the clients running in the windows XP, 2000, Vista, and more.

Greetings!

Possible, but currently unsupported

It *is* possible to install RS on an XP box, but highly discouraged.  One of Altiris' larger RS customers has hundreds of RS boxes on WinXP machines.  We (me being the primary Altiris RS support at our company) will not be able to support it.  However, RS7 has added support for installing Recovery Server 7 on a Windows XP machine (32 bit only).

Say hello to Cyrille for me!

Thanks,

How then do you accomplish XP RS Server install

So how can this be accomplished if the Setup.exe and other MSI's in the install folder for RS server install error out when ran with the explination it will only install on Servers?

Troy,I think you have to

Troy,
I think you have to create a custom .MST (Windows Installer Transform) which modifies some of the MSI "LaunchCondition" which are checking the OS version, or maybe you have to run the MSI and pass all of the parameters it requires on the command line.  Not 100% sure, like I said we haven't actually done it here.

Thanks,
