I can't seem to figure out how to do this.  I have searched for information, but most of it is for SEP 11.  When I create an SEP install package from SEPM, neither SEPM nor SEP on the target machine prompt me for a drive choice.  I looked at the config files to see if there was something I could tweak, but didn't see anything useful.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Hi

I think its at the time of package creation you need to mention the target path.

I'm not using SEP 12 however it should be same as SEP 11 Here is the document to install on different drive, you need to add the setting under client install settings.

Creating custom Client Installation packages in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007110513361348

STEP 9 IS WHERE YOU MENTION THE TARGET PATH WHILE CREATING PACKAGE.

To create a new custom client installation configuration

  1. Open the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console.
  2. On the Admin Tab, under Tasks, click Install Packages.
The current default client installation packages appear on the right.
  3. Under View Install Packages, click Client Install Settings.
  4. Under Tasks, click Add Client Install Settings.
  5. Specify the name you would like the Client Install Settings group to have.
  6. Give the Client Install Settings group a description.
  7. Select an installation type from the following:
    • Unattended (Displays notification, but requires no user input)
    • Interactive (User input required)
    • Silent (No user input or display)

  8. Select either Restart after installation or No restart after installation.
  9. Select the installation location.
  10. Enable or disable installation logging.
  11. Select whether or not to add the program to the start menu.
  12. Select whether or not to maintain all previous logs policies and client-server communication settings.
  13. Click OK.

please let me know if you can see these settings in SEP 12

Please don't forget to mark your thread solved with whatever answer helped you : ) Rafeeq

I think this may also help

I think this may also help you...

You can modify DestinationDirectory SETAID.INI file which is prsent in the installation directory.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007101610183248

You can also install unmanaged client which will give you the option to choose installation path and then replace sylink.xml file...

shp>  I found that line in my setaid.ini file.  I am going to give that a shot, but I was wondering if there's any syntax issues.  Things in that file aren't enclosed in " 's or anything.  Will putting in d:\symantec\ send it to that partition/folder?  (Also, that link seems dead for me)

Many thanks!
