    Hello,

    I'm attempting to install version 5.2.8.164 on box running Windows Server 2008 R2 but can't get the actual Mgmt Server component installed.  The DB installation finishes successfully, but not the Mgmt Server.  The SISManagementInstallWrapper.log provides no indication as to why, but when I compare the log against a successful install that was done in our test environment, the entries for finding the SSL and JDBC passwords are missing so I suspect this is the issue.  However, I'm not sure why.  I am installing as an admin on the server and have turned off Windows User Access Control.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Good Install:

    Leaving DeleteServerSettings()..
    Finding SSL_PASSWORD.. return code - 0, found line at - 353
    FileDeleteLine of line - 353 return code - 0
    Finding JDBC_PASSWORD.. return code - 0, found line at - 360
    FileDeleteLine of line - 360 return code - 0

    Failing Install:

    Leaving DeleteServerSettings()..
    Copying: from C:\Users\brunonr\AppData\Local\Temp\2\SISManagerSetup.log to D:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Critical System Protection\Server\SISManagerSetup.log
    Leaving LaunchServerInstall()..
    Entering FailedInstall()..
    The Installation has failed. Click Finish to exit the wizard.

    Thanks,
    Russ

    Hi Russ,

    Are you using the same password in both test and production environments?

    The issue might be the password complexity that is too low. The requirements are as follow:

    Do you get one of the following error?

    "Database population FAILED" or "MDAC".

    If yes, have a look at the below article:

    SCSP - Error "Database population FAILED" and "MDAC"

    Have a look at the msde-dbStatus.txt file, there might me more details on the point of failure:

    %ProgramFiles%\Symantec\Critical System Protection\Server\msde-dbStatus.txt

    Let me know!

    Thanks for your reply Shulk.

    We are not using the same passwords that were used for Test.  However, they do meet the complexity requirements and the DB portion of the install appears to be completing successfully.  I did not recieve the window you listed and upon checking msde-dbStatus.txt I see the entry:

    ** New DB Installation Upgrade Script 5.2.8.264 Completed Successfully **

    !!SUCCESS!! DBINS9400 DataBase appears to be Installed Correctly
    --------- Ending   Database (SCSPDB) Install-Upgrade Script at Fri 06/08/2012 14:02:07.85 ------------

    For some reason, I cannot seem to get the actual management server/tomcat portion to install.

    Are the SSL and JDBC passwords the application is looking to retrieve during the install process located in a DB table?

    It would be interesting if you could attach following error logs here:

    - \Critical System Protection\Server\SISManagementInstallWrapper.txt

    - \Critical System Protection\Server\SISManagerSetup.txt

    - \Critical System Protection\Server\msde-dbStatus.txt

    You may find some other logs in %temp%.
