Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server)

Hello,

we have problem with ITMS 7.5 SP1 installation on clean W2k8 R2 server. There is error:

Product: Task Management 7.5 SP1 -- Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action Product_Install script error -2147024894, : Line 90, Column 2,

I tried to run manually to have verbose logging like : altiris_taskmanagement_7_5_sp1_x64.msi with arguments RUNBYAIM=1 ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=1 ALTIRIS="G:\Altiris" WEBSITE="Default Web Site" REBOOT=ReallySuppress ALLUSERS=1 /L*v  c:\temp\TaskMan.log

Log is attached. Can you please check what can be wrong? I tried all the steps from this article http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-windows_programs/error-1720there-is-a-problem-with-this-windows/67dc78d1-0937-4eac-a1d6-9e738551fc3c bud did not help

Try ALTIRIS="G:\Program Files\Altiris", I had problems a few years ago with trying an automated install of NS 6.0 to D:\Altiris that was fixed by using D:\Program Files\Altiris.

Or you might need SKIPAIM=1.

Although Symantec Install Manager logs quite well too.
 

I tried both and have same error.

When I tried to install via SIM there is error 1603. Log attached.

Log in and run SIM as the Service Account you'll be using and make sure it's got all the usual Service Account rights, local admin, log on locally, log on as a service, act as part of the OS etc.

 

I tried to run SIM under service account, this account is in Admin group, has rigts to logon as a service but still I receive error on the beginning. New it is not with Task man but with Console:

Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Custom Console 7.5 SP1. Product Version: 7.5.3153.0. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Symantec. Installation success or error status: 1603.

In system error logs I can see :

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

{46063B1E-BE4A-4014-8755-5B377CD462FC}

and APPID

{FAAFC69C-F4ED-4CCA-8849-7B882279EDBE}

to the user xxxxxx\yyyyyyy SID (S-1-5-21-3788152950-3674640369-187888867-156550) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Any idea?

Error -2147024894 (0x80070002) = The system cannot find the file specified.

To me, this reads like the CustomAction was unable to find path/file for AeXConfig.exe and/or TaskManagement.confg.

When the error is encounted, before closing the installer (if that's a possiblity), can you check for the existence of these?

I can see directory structure but only for while, after 2 seconds it is deleting so not able to get into directory.

We will try to reinstall OS, hope this helps.
