Deployment Solution

Having installed Altiris Deployment Solution 6.8 SP2 sucessfully and been using it for a number of months i wanted to install the Deployment Console Locally onto my workstation.

When i try to run the console the 'Connecting to SQL Server Database' appears then the app looks like it is hanging until the message stating could not connect to Altiris DB Managment Service.

In the ODBC Administrator i can run the tests succesfully but unsure where to go from now. The Altiris DB Managment Service runs as a Service Account which has local admin rights.

Is there anything in particular i should look for?

You will need to configure the SQL database to allow remote connections, especially via your logon account.

If you are part of a domain, you may want to grant whatever logon account you are using at the machine that you want to run the console with access to both the SQL database and Altiris.  If the database isn't configured to allow specific users in it will deny access. 

Did you install the console using the DS Install package?  Also, when you tested the ODBC connection, were you on the machine with the remote console installed?
