    Hello,

Installed RU6 on Windows Server 2003 machine that already had RU5, and can log onto SEPM console perfectly. However, SEP on the same machine lost communication with the SEPM (figured this was because of the installation).

Created an install package ("Admin" -> "Install Packages" -> Selected the client package to export). After I installed the client package, I opened SEP and even though it said 11.0.6, Network Threat Protection was no longer present. To install this I went to Add/Remove programs, selected SEP, pressed "Change" and went through the steps to install Network Threat Protection.

    Here is the problem:
I tried to stop the service by going to "Start" -> "Run" -> type in smc -stop and entered in the established password. I get the error the password is wrong. How is this possible? What can be done to fix this. No underlying changes were made to the database other than a "schema update", according to the installation dialog.

    Thanks in advance!

What you can do is disable the password from the registry and then replace the sylink

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SMC\smc_exit_test from 1 to 0 prior to stopping the service.

if the clients are communicating, put a new password in SEPM, update the policy, stop the service.

Found the password - all our servers need to be powered down for maintenance purposes, will follow up soon.
