Installing additional deployment consoles

Last week we upgraded DS from 6.8 SP2 to 6.9 SP2. We decided to give a couple of our full-time staff access to the 32 bit version of the DS console. I installed it on their pc's using setup.exe from the DSSetup folder. When they click the icon it prompts them for a username and password. We don't have security enabled. Do they need to be Altiris Admins to run the console on their pc's?

Thanks,
Ann

SQL

You need to give them rights to read the database in SQL.

SQL or Server Admin

Depending on what you answered for credentials when DS was installed on the server, this is what is being prompted for.  If you said that the SQL was set to Windows Authentication, then a server admin and the SQL login are the same and only it will be needed.  If they are different then two usernames and passwords would be needed possibly.

You're welcome

Just wondering if that worked for you.

ODBC

Also, don't forget that if these computers are on a workgroup and your DS is on a domain, it makes it easier to simply add the workgroup computers to the domain and login once permissions are setup on the DS, otherwise, you will need to tweak your ODBC connector too.

They already had read rights

They already had read rights to the database. What our server group ended up doing is creating an AD group for the staff members. It's now working fine.

Thank you for the follow-up.
