Hello,
Can I install PXE Server to W2008R2 member server by launching AxInstall.exe from Deployment Server? Does UAC interfere with installation?

No on knows?
I'm not the pro on 6.9, but maybe what I have is better than no answer at all.
1) UAC interferes sometimes, but not always, because we've learned to get around it with DAgent.
2) I believe you can do what you want, but truthfully, it's really simple to do without the remote push if it gives you any grief.

Thank you all. I got folllowing instructions from Symantec support and this is how I did it:
On the remote machine, browse to the installation files for Deployment Server which is usually in C:\DSSETUP.
- Run AxInstall.exe
- on the first screen for Deployment Share Installation type \\ServerName\eXpress
- Select Additional PXE Server
- Select to install on this computer (since we running AxInstall locally on remote PXE server - it should automatically detect local IP and DS IP.
- Specify PXE Install path if required.
- Next to perform install.

Hi Weedee,
This might not affect you, but just as a heads up there seems to be a deficiency in the DS PXE support in 2008 Server -it doesn't understand how to manipulate the DHCP services to automatically cater for a DHCP on-box scenario .
In such cases, you might have to use local configurations in the PXE Configuration Utility to be explicit (as the automatic sensing option doesn't work).
Kind Regards,

deficiency in the DS is to add option 60 to the DHCP options.
add PXEClient with a value of 60. That should do.

Hi Nelo,
I had issues with doing just that. Even though I had locally configured the DHCP server with netsh for option 60, I still had to configure PXE using local configuration to explicitly say that that the DHCP server is co-hosted.
Maybe I did something wrong, but having the automatic option in PXE configuration refused to work and I had to resort to forcing a local configuration.

PXE 2008R2
Hi Guy's,
I'm having a real problem trying to get this to work. Basically I have upgraded remote sites to w2k8r2, these are DC's, with dhcp installed and Altiris PXE on each of these servers.
Each of these servers has Option 60 set for PXEClient
I have created a local WinPE option and under each server have select PXE Server tab, selected Customized PXE Server and then selected Third party DHCP server intalled on PXE server (under DHCP Server discovery.
Is this the correct way to configure remote sites for imaging, and if not can someone advise me on how to do this properly.
Thanks in advance.
Mike
