Installing Backup Exec 2012 on Win Srv 2008 R2 Hyper-V
Created: 08 Oct 2012 | Updated: 08 Oct 2012 | 2 comments
Have couple questions about Backup Exec 2012.
Environment: Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V role. I have couple of VMs set up on Hyper-V.
When setting up Backup Exec 2012 SP1 on this server (not in virtual machine, but on the physical server) the installation process removes one important driver (Device Manager -> Storage Contollers -> Microsoft VHD HBA). Without Microsoft VHD HBA virtual machines refuse to start. Setting up Microsoft VHD HBA driver manually sends the system to BSD after reboot.
Thoughts?

I have not really come across this issue before. However, you could look at this http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsserver2008r2virtualization/thread/6fd78e96-e1cb-457f-9484-0a11b62969d6
If this does no work, I would suggest you to open a support case with Symantec.
Thank you for the suggestion. I did check the thread and found out that, yes, HP tapeloader could be part of the problem and solving issue with FSDepends.sys might help. Tried to solve with steps from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2013544. Didn't help. Result - BSOD :(
