Hi,

I have a backup server which is running backup exec CPS 10d and it is backing up a number of servers to its hard disk.

I would now like to install the backup exec media server 10d but I would like to do this in a way where I do not loose the backups and not interrupt the backup schedule of these servers.

Is it possible to instal the backup media server on top of the CPS and slowly move over to the new software? Preferebly I would like to keep the same hardware.

Thanks in advance

These are independent

These are independent software, and would coexist together. So, there should be no problem with this. you can go ahead with installing Backup Exec and configuring Backup to disk folder or connect tape drives. They do not cross lines at any point, so should not be a problem with co-existence. As far as hardware is concerned, Backup Exec can use tape drives which CPS cannot, also operating systems supported by CPS is same as Backup Exec. There is no problem that I can forsee with this. There are lot of customers, who do use both softwares on same server, without any problems.

Please mark it a solution, if this is useful.
Thanks

Ok, Thanks for your reply. I

Ok, Thanks for your reply. I am going to try and install them together and hopefully I will be able to switch from CPS to back up exec with no problems.

Thanks again
