HI,
i am trying to connect USB HDD to ESX host through Passed -through & Backup EXEC installed on one of VM inside ESX.
is it possible to configure VTL of HDD in BE installed on VM .
VMware is not recommending this. is BE support & will it works fine?
OR
if we connect tape drive to ESX host & mapped to BE installed VM. will it works?

Hi,
Moved this to its own thread as the previous thread was dead.
BE on a VM has limited support, so if you run into an issue, you need to prove you can replicate the issue on a physical server for instance.

I have used virtual machines on vSphere 4.1 that ran BE 2010 R3. SCSI passthrough with the correct card was configured, and it worked well...while it worked. The minute there was an issue with the hardware, it became a serious problem to resolve.
If you can install it on a physical server, do so.
Thanks!
