This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi All,

So i installed NBU 7.5 Server on a Solaris10 SPARC server last week, the following packages are installed:

application SYMCnbclt                        NetBackup Client
application SYMCnbjava                       NetBackup Java Console
application SYMCnbjre                        NetBackup Java JRE
application SYMCnetbp                        NetBackup and Media Manager
application SYMCpddea                        Symantec Deduplication Agent
application SYMCpddes                        Symantec Deduplication Service

I downloaded the 3 packages of MP6 the then joined together as advised by this technote:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH204656

I've untar'd the single package, but then when i run ./NB_update.install i get the following error:

ERROR:   Missing required server files in /orabackup/nbu_binaries/NBU_7.5.0.6_PACK:
         VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.README
         VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.postinstall
         VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.postuninstall
         VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.preinstall
         VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.preuninstall

Exiting NB_update.install

Anyone have any idea's?

Thanks

You need the Server patch in the same folder as the Client patch.

7.5.0.6 Download links: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH204644

NetBackup Master/Media Server installations below require the Client packages above:

NB_7.5.0.6.solaris.tar provides fixes for NetBackup 7.5 master and media servers on Solaris SPARC.

There are 2 packs available in /orabackup/nbu_binaries/NBU_7.5.0.6_PACK:
(* denotes installed pack)

        NB_7.5.0.6
        NB_CLT_7.5.0.6

Enter pack name (or q) [q]:

You'll find (probably already have found) that you won't be able to install NB without also installing NB_CLT.

Have another look at my post above:

You need the Server patch in the same folder as the Client patch.

7.5.0.6 Download links: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH204644

NetBackup Master/Media Server installations below require the Client packages above:

NB_7.5.0.6.solaris.tar provides fixes for NetBackup 7.5 master and media servers on Solaris SPARC.

Hope this answers your question.
