This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello to everyone!

This is my first time using Backup Exec 2010 and any versions of backup exec and I downloaded the trialware to test the application but having trouble installing the option for Exchange Agent. I tried installing the agent remotely from the backup exec server thru "Tools" menu select "Install Agents and Media server on other servers" then choose the computer I would like to install the exchange agent but even I have choose only Exchange Agent, it installed the whole Backup Exec 2010 again. Am I doing anything wrong here? Is there a way to install Exchange Agent locally on the Exchange server itself?

Any help will be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Hi,You should only install

Hi,

You should only install basic Windows Remote Agent for your Exchange server. It seems that you have installed whole Backup Exec Media Server.

It doesn't matter are you installing Basic Windows Agent, Exchange Agent, SQL Agent and so on, you just install Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) and enable option with license key on your Backup Exec Media Server.

So, if you have installed your Backup Exec Media server with Exchange option, just push install basic Windows Agent to your Exchange Server.

RE: Attached is the what I choose

On your 3rd screenshot, you have selected an entire media server install

you should select the second option "remote agent for windows servers"

The Exchange option, when installed to the media server just unlocks the capability, but you must have a remore agent installed and running to connect to a remote server at all

There's no different agent

There's no different agent for Exchange, just license key to add that option to Backup Exec Media Server. One single agent for every feature, features just released for use, with license keys.

No, trialware should have all options enabled.  If the RAWS is installed and running on the remote server, if it is an Exchange Server, you should be able to select the stores for an Agent Backup
