Installing Ghost Console Client on a VMware box... Can't do it?

  • 1.  Installing Ghost Console Client on a VMware box... Can't do it?

When attempting a remote client install on a vmware machine, I find it fails due to:

    Failed to install:
       \\VM-TEST-BASE (10): Connection: Connection error

When attempting a remote client install with the media, I find it fails due to:

Installer detected no network cards installed on this system.  Installation will not continue.

I'm guessing this is due to the "unique" nature of the VMware "network card", which is labeled in device manager as:

    VMware Accelerated AMD PCNet Adapter

I'm posting in the hopes that two things happen:

    1. That someone can provide me a work around for this issue.

    2. That GSS will be able to recognize virtual network cards such as these in the near future.

If it is relevant, I'm using GSS 1.1 (console 8.3.0.1331) and VMware Server Console 1.0.0 build-28343.  Does the new version of GSS solve this issue?

    Thanks,

    Joe

Try to disable temporary the windows Firewall Service... I have absolutly no problem with VMWARE in combination with GSS 1.1 or 2.0...(Creating snapshot for your ghost is actually pretty great!!!) the only issue is a dos network card performance problem, but this seems more like a VMWare dos support problem then a symantec problem...
