  • 1.  Installing Semantic on Windows 7 64 Bit, 'Wizard was interrupted before ...'

    I am trying to install Semantic Endpoint Protection and am getting 'The wizard was interrupted before Symantec Endpoint Protection could be completely installed'.

    I am not sure why this is occuring. Any information would be helpful.

    Per the log:

    Symantec Endpoint Protection has detected that there are pending system changes that require a reboot.  Please reboot the system and rerun the installation.
    MSI (c) (1C:24) [18:06:58:815]: Product: Symantec Endpoint Protection -- Symantec Endpoint Protection has detected that there are pending system changes that require a reboot.  Please reboot the system and rerun the installation.

    Did you reboot and try again?

    If you did, delete the registry key mentioned here and install again (do not reboot after deleting key as it will come back)

    Not able to install SEP12.1 client on Windows 7 computer due to Pending restart issue.

    Thanks for the reply. I did a restart, and now am Getting a different error in the log.

    Looks like you have a software restriction policy in place and are not allowed to install software on this machine.

    Thanks, I installed as Admin and am now getting different behavior.

    It appears that the installation of SEP is failing because the Windows Event Log service failed to start properly.

    Can you go into Services (Start > Run > type in: services.msc > click OK) and find the Event Log service? Is it started?
     
    Have you tried rebooting the machine and attempting the installation again?
     
    Also, if UAC is enabled, disable it as well before installing

    Thanks so much. Turns out my Windows Event Log service was not started. There was an error on it, but after searching for the error that came up when I tried starting it, I was able to complete my install
