    Hi all,

    I had SEP in my machine (Compaq with Windows 7), but the live update didn't work. I decided to uninstall the program and downloaded the new one (SEP v 1.0.10217.1624). I tried to install it but always failed. I have looked at the related topics and tried some suggestions. Again, It still didn't work. I think I now need a more personal advice. Anyone can help me out? As a layperson with this technology, please use less advanced language. Thank you.

    What version of the Windows 7 you used?

    And, I think the version number of the SEP you mentioned as 'v 1.0.10217.1624' is incorrect, please try to find out the version number from SEP main UI -> Help and Support -> About. The version number should be something like: 11.0.6100.627

    So, is just the LiveUpdate doesn't work, and other component works finely? The SEP show as green on the system tray? If so, you can attach the log of the LiveUpdate here.

    You can find the log file named Log.LiveUpdate under the folder C:\ProgramData\Symantec\LiveUpdate on Windows 7.

    I downloaded SEP from my school which is not so much information provided. On the screen, it says v 1.0.10217.xxx. I assumed that's the version. Anyway, I believe that the school has the latest version.

    I have used SEP on my computer for about 6 months. Recently, the live update didn't work while other components worked finely. But then, I decided to uninstall SEP. I wanted to reinstall it in order to get the entire new SEP. Now, I don't have any SEP being installed in my machine. Every time I tried, it said "the wizard was interrupted before symantec endpoint protection could be completely installed". What I need to do? Thank you.

    I've already encounter that problem regarding Windows 7. We are currently using MR5.
    I am trying to solve that problem. As soon I solve this, I will give you an update.

    I've already solve the problem. Try to uninstall symantec, follow this link for manual uninstallation of symantec.

    1. I've created a reg file on manual deletion of Symantec registry entries. 
    2. In Symantec Console, I've create new Symantec package for 64-bit OS.
    3. Disable the simple file sharing
    4. Install 64-bit Symantec.

    @AravindKM do you remember on my previous forum about "How to remove ProtectionUtilSurrogates?" I've tried to search on sep_inst.log but it seems it is not present.
    I am 100% sure that in RUN, i've type %temp% then it connects me to temp file. I've look over SETP_inst.log but only SYMEVENT.txt

    If SEP_inst.log is not available at %temp% check for same in windows temp folder

    I got the SEP_INST.LOG file. But it's long lists. I don't think you guys need all the list. Where should I cut the list off and paste it here?

    Anyway, I attached the file in DOCX. Please, advice me what to do next. Thank you.

    Your SEP client version what you are trying to install is RU5.
    Install liveupdate first (CD1\SEp\lusetup.exe) andf try to install SEP.
     If not helps follow this KB
    Symantec Endpoint Protection Client (SEP) installation fails and rolls back. Install log shows "( LUCHECK.EXE ) returned 206"
