  • 1.  Installing Symantec Ghost 15 - Validating Install

    Hello All,

     

    I am trying to install Ghost 15 on a windows xp laptop; I have downloaded the ISO and burnt it to a dvd, and am now trying to install the software. I have made several attempts to install and it always gets stuck/hangs about two thirds of the way through the validating installportion of the setup. I read that proxy servers may cause this issue but am not using one to access the net. Any advice appreciated.

    You will find a link to the Norton community in a sticky posting at the top of this forum.

    Ghost 15 is a retail product based on a different technology than the corporate Ghost Solution Suite product that this forum supports.

    It may well be that your ISO has not downloaded cleanly - is there an MD5 checksum published against which you can check your download?  Have you checked the available disk space on your laptop, cleaned up any temp files and defragmented your hard disk?  Have you run CHKDSK to check that the disk integrity is OK ?  These basic actions are a good starting point before attempting any imaging operation.
