Installing VMWare tools / Command Line Modification Clause

Created: 23 May 2011 • Updated: 26 May 2011 | 1 comment
This issue has been solved. See solution.

On page 25 of the Pgp Universal 3.1.2 Install Guide, it gives us instructions for installing VMWare tools using the command line. The first thing in the section is a note referring back to page 3, which specifically states that:

performing configuration modifications via the command line voids your PGP Support agreement unless these procedures are followed. Any changes made to the PGP Universal Server via the command line must be:

•Authorized in writing by PGP Support.
•Implemented by a PGP Partner, reseller or internal employee who is certified in the PGP Advanced Administration and Deployment Training.
•Summarized and documented in a text file in /var/lib/ovid/customization on the PGP Universal Server itself.

Given this clause, am I able to follow the instructions from the manual to install the VMWare tools without voiding my support agreement?

Also, what is the best way to request technical support for PGP Universal Server via Email?

Thanks

If you want to be on the safe side you can open a tech support ticket to have a support engineer make this installation as per http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH149664

A support ticket can be created via Web at MySupport Case Management (https://mysupport.symantec.com/)

Once you have a support ticket open you can update it using email.
