    Dear All,
As you could notice that Symantec Mail Security Appliances have now the ability to filter and scan for instant messages and viruses on file transfers.
However, it is straight forward to configure the scan settings but my question is, How to configure my ISA server (What Ports) to route and forward MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, and AOL. On what ports I should tell the ISA server to forward the connection to these messengers to pass by the Symantec Mail Security Appliance first as we do with the published email servers.

    I would appreciate any suggestions.

    Best Regards,
    Fuad

You need to make changes to the DNS initially to redirect the traffic to the IM proxy on the SMS appliance. The required changes are all listed in the administration guide, which is a PDF that you can access from the dashboard.

The only changes you need to make to ISA would be to block the http addresses that users can go to to access "web" versions of the clients (like http://webmessenger.msn.com )
