    Dearest..

In my customer now , they have implement the symantec endpoint security. My question is we want to deploy DLP.. should we install the different agent that we used in SEP? cant we use the sama agent for both of SEP and DLP?

    Best Regards

    Good afternoon,

I think you maybe a bit confuse about the SEP and the DLP endpoint agent so i will hope to clean this up.  Symantec Endpoint Protection and DLP on the Endpoint have different agents and also different use cases.

SEP focuses on protecting the endpoint from malware, viruses and other types of infections.  DLP focuses on the protecting confidential data from leaving the environment via removable storage, web, and other vectors.

They are seperate agents so you cannot leverage the SEP agent to provide the DLP protection and vice versa.

Take a look at this video that I did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VLQTm48eoI  while a bit old is still mostly current

In regards to SEPM, I'd recommend keeping it on its own box.

There is a seperate management platform for both products.  We commonly refer to the SEP management paltform as the SEPM and then the DLP management platform as the Enforce platform
