I asked something similar to this and now I want to take a slightly different angle with this question. Here is the link to my previous thread. Warning: it is LONG and what I am asking here is pretty similar to what I have just recently published.

    Here is the link,

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/rolled-new-image-after-sep-installed-wireless-stops-working#comment-8860151

Wireless NIC is not picking up and IP address and can not reach out to any network. This started when we were imaging, but I am beginning to think that this had nothing to do with the image and probably something to do with the most current update of the driver for the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN

The Wireless NIC is Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN, I noticed, it did this on a machine that was NOT part of our newest image, but the SAME exact thing happened after I updated the Wireless NIC drivers with the previous drivers, there were NO connection issues.

Again, the resolution was the same, go the the properties of the Wireless NIC while SEP is turned off using smc -stop, remove IPv4, restart, then re add IPv4. I am curious to know if there is something going on with the most recent driver for the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN.

What I really would like to know is if there are issues between SEP and Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN's most current drivers? I just updated a Windows 7 (64 bit) Laptop and the SEP installation was version 12.1.2100.2093. It also happened with 12.1.2015.2015.

I am hoping to make some leeway here because not only would I like an answer and a solution, but I am assuming others may run into similar issues.

    Many thanks!

I think the only way is to troubleshoot with Symantec on this.

Have you tried RU3, just came out last week?

Something looks to be going on

I was looking for it, but did not see it in my Fileconnect.

Ticket was open with Symantec, and it took them weeks to do anything and there were still no resolutions.

Do you have a direct link to open a support case? I hate searching their site.

    Hello,

This usually happens with the users carrying the Symantec Protection Suite.

In case you do not see the Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU3 version on Symantec Flexnetoperations (earlier Symantec Fileconnect), you may see the same in coming few days.

However, incase you need it very urgently, you may contact the  Symantec Licensing Department.

They can help you with a Temporary License Number.

    Website: http://symantec.custhelp.com
    Phone number: 1-800-721-3934
    Email: license@symantec.com

    Hope that helps!!

Thanks, I was on it before I saw this, I guess I just need to be a little more patient. But man, it's never a straight forward thing when I have SEP issue sad

I tried with them, even they did not have any answers. All of the updates and progress in a feasible resolution came from my noodle smiley. I do continue to update them pertaining to this because I know I will not be the only one to have this issue and I know something similar to it can/will happen again.

    Bryan

Which version of the Intel driver are you using that is causing issues, 15.6 or 15.8 ?

I do not have the laptop in my posession, but whatever it is, it's the most recent driver for it. I would assume 15.8
