Internet Explorer 9 - 32 bit and AddIns

Recently installed Norton 2011 on 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate.  Had to disable Norton add-ins for 32bit Internet Explorer as same completely stopped the IE window from loading.  No errors presented just the application hangs with a nearly blank screen and never completes loading.  Also seems to interfere with functions on start menu.  Also Norton anti spam Outlook plug ins appear to take far longer to load on my machine than is reasonable although the application eventually loads.  Something missing on my end?
