Hi

I hope someone can help with this...

Whenever i have a layer enabled (also a empty one) Internet Explorer 7 takes about 5-10 secs to start (normal is 2 sec) I have not seen any other "real" programs with this behaveure.

I am running svs 2.1.2088

Internet explorer slow

SVS version 2088 is not the best version to use.
When you activate 1 layer, yes, even a empty one, settings are messedup.
I have seen several strange behaviour on several machines with version 2088.
Please upgrade to a newer version, or take the 2081 version.
that is a very good stable version.

re: Internet explorer slow

Version 2095 is not known as a problem version.
The problem you describe is a general one. When you capture on a machine with Internet explorer 6, and on the production machines you run version 7, this behaviour is commen.
Best is to capture on a machine with internet explorer 7.
If you run the vsa's on the same machine were you captured the apps, common for homa use, then upgrade to internet explorer 7.

One thing to try is to

One thing to try is to create an empty layer and activate it (with no other layers active). If IE is running slow with only an empty layer active we know it's something on the system.

If IE runs fine we know it's something in a layer causing the slowdown.

If a forum post solves your problem please flag is as the solution

Internet Explorer slow when svs layers are active

I have tryed and also a empty layer makes the error. And it is not only the IE that is slow other programs et. a txt to speech program is about 2-3 words behind (3-5 sec) what is on the screen.

Re: internet explorer slow when svs layers are active

Runebol,

You probably have encountered the same problem i have. I only have one good solution, Format the machine and try it again.
This error probably occurs when you make a mistake in the global exclusions.

Well before he jumps that

Well before he jumps that boat lets see what his setup actually is.

What security software do you have on the base?
What global excludes do you have set?

Another thing you may want

Another thing you may want to check: I have seen this behaviour in combination with McAfee VirusScanner 8.x (and above I guess) when the "ScriptScan" feature is activated for the OnAccess Scanner. We disabled this feature.

Spybot

Hi there,
we had the same problem. Even an empty layer slows down IE 7 (even when you try to open the settings pop-up...).

We have found it was the 'immunize' feature of spybot. Check if it is enabled on your client and let me know.

Hope it helps,
Maurizio
