the clients wil be connected for 30 days by default
you can set it to lesser value
    under
    admin -:>servers
    local site
    logs tab

you can disable the warning message under
    home tab
    preference tab
    uncheck intrustion signature failure it wil not complain u ;

please set whatever is comfortable for u

Yeah, i have done this previously. thanks - I think my question was not posed correctly.

How can i 1. Managed the prevention signatures? ie : how can i update them manually? via LUA? if so, they all sit in the same site, and use the same policy..

As of now there is no such way to Manually Update IPS Signatures.

LUA can be used to update the IPS.

Updates can directly passed to the client by configuring this in the SEPM Policy or you can configure SEPM to take updates from LUA and then pass them to SEP Client.

You cannot update IPS manually, an idea has been posted and symantec is working on that.
You can update it via lua.
These issues are common when the client is not communicating with the manager or the install is corrupt
on the machine ; go to add/remove programs. select Symantec endpoint
select modify, remove ptp and ntp; complete the install
follow the same step to install it again.
update the policy on client ; once clients take from manager; the error message would disapper..
