  • 1.  Intrusion Prevention for IE 9 won't let IE exit

    Posted Sep 29, 2011 04:53 AM

I am on Windows 7 Pro x64 and have SEP 12.1 x64 client installed and is up-to-date. When I open IE 9 and then close it, the main window does disappear but when I open task manager, IE processes are still running. Besides, the desktop just freezes. I can't click anything on the desktop and neither right clicking will do anything. However, clicking on the start menu, taskbar etc are not affected. It's been a long time I upgraded to IE 9 but it's been a couple of days I have had been experiencing this problem. Upon terminating those IE processes, everything goes fine again. After disabling Symantec Intrusion Prevention add-on, I managed to find it was the culprit. Now it no longer happens. Here's a similar case: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows_7/ie9-freezes-desktop-in-windows-7/3214a56a-1be2-4711-85e1-73308a052c8e?tab=AllReplies and am sure Norton is the culprit in that case. So when can we expect a fix for this bug?

    Hi,

I would suggest open a web case with Symantec.
