I created a virtual encrypted disk a few months ago. I mounted and used the disk a couple of weeks ago.  Today, I unsuccessfully mounted the disk.  I received the following error message.

Invalid PGP Virtual Disk: The specified disk doesn't appear to be a valid legacy PGP Virtual Disk.

Is there any way to recover this disk?  I have important data stored and at a lost right now.

    Thanks.

    Hi Danmf,

What is the version of PGP and MAC are you using. You can go through the following article which can help you to recover the data -

I am running Yosemite 10.10.4 with Symantec Encryption desktop 10.3.2 MP9 [Build 16620].

I tried the procedure listed in the article with no success.  The Desktop software launches and does not ask for a key.  The disk utility only has my internal hard disk listed.

Had you recently upgraded either the OS or the Symantec Encryption Desktop software (or both)?  Was the virtual disk created on that system running those versions of OS and SED?

If possible, you may want to try transferring the drive to another system with Symantec Encryption Desktop installed, and see if you can access it from there.

    Mike,

I have used the same versions of both OS and SED since install.   The disk was created on the existing versions.   I noticed my Key are no longer verified and my Keyring backups are.  I have SED install on my Mac.  Will they disk work if I transfer to a Windows system running SED?

FYI - My Keys are not showing as verified, why my backup keyring is verified.   Does contribute to my issue?

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    Mike,

After rereading your suggestion, I reinstalled SED.  I can see the cipher for the disk.  I am still unable to mount the disk nor can I reencrypt the disk.

I finally found a solution to this issue.  I tried to uninstall PGP Desktop unsuccessfully from the Menu.  I found instructions on http://prowiki.isc.upenn.edu/wiki/Removing_PGP_Desktop on manually removing the software.  After completing this process, I reinstalled a fresh copy of Encryption Desktop.  Looking to restore my previous keyrings, I found my primary on both, public and private,  read "0k".  I used the backups instead.  I have access to my virtual disk once again.
