  • 1.  Invalid Recipient, Rejected message for a nonlocal recipient

    Hi support,

I have installed SMG 9.5.1-6. The inbound email is working fine but unfortunately, I have problem delivering email to outbound(non-local). The error showed in audit log: " Invalid recipient, Rejected meaasge for a nonlocal recipient". This is not my first installation and i did compare with my previous installation setting and all are same. I also configure my non-local message in delivery bind to the outbound IP address also failed to relay email out.

Which IP addesses did you set up to be able to and mail outbound? This usually happens when the server sending the email is not in that list.

Except we were trying to reconfigure an existing scanner (where Inbound and Outbound are using the same IP, not a recommedned setup, but it actually works)

So we added a Virtual IP, and set Outbound to use the new Virtual IP (and changed Advanced Settings - Delivery Tab - SMTP Delivery Bindings Non-Local Messages and Dynamically Routed Messages to use the Virtual IP as well)

We the immediately get "All recipients are invalid, Rejected message for a nonlocal recipient " for all outgoing mail.

We have a second scanner that has 2 physical NICS, that works just fine using two IP's, one Inbound, one Outbound. Obviously we have compared settings.

Both scanners and the Control Center (separate) are 9.5.1-6

    Thanks,

    Karl

In our case this may trace back to a firewall issue, as our second IP was not allowed out, so it had nowhere to deliver the e-mails.

I will report back once FW settings have been modified to allow outgoing traffic from the VIP.

    Thanks,

When we switched to the Virtual IP for outgoing mail, we did not adjust the Send connector in Exchange, hence it would deliver remote mail to the inbound interface, which would of course reject all of it, since it is set to validate recipients. Error meassage now makes sense.

Changed the Send Connector to route mail through the new Outgoing Virtual IP, and everything is working well.

    Thanks,
