Inventarisieren und Reinigen

Hallo,
wir setzen BE 12.5 mit Bandlaufwerk und Tape Library ein. Montags wird der 24er-Wechsler mit alten und neuen Bändern bestückt, dabei auch immer ein Reinigungsband, ohne dessen Schacht als Reinigungsbandschacht zu kennzeichen.
Nach dem Inventarisieren zeigen die Laufwerkseigenschaften im Register "Reinigung" diesen Inventarisierungszeitpunkt auch als Letzte Reinigung an.
Ebenso zeigen die Medieneigenschaften des Reinigungsbandes im Register Allgemein eine um "+1" erhöhte Anzahl der Reinigungen an.
Nun die Frage: Wird das Bandlaufwerk beim Inventarisieren tatsächlich auch gereinigt? Oder informiert die Software falsch?

Hi,
No, the drive won't be cleaned during an Inventory job. All that would happen is that BE would read the tape header and identify it according to what it reads.
You need to initiate a Clean job to clean the drive.

When you inventory the slot with the cleaning tape, the cleaning tape is physically read in the tape drive. This action is the same as cleaning the tape drive, hence the increase in the cleaning statistic.

I've tested the following szenario:
Inventory a bay with a tape, this takes 122 seconds
Inventory a bay with a cleaning tape, this takes 307 seconds
Make a cleaningjob, this takes 303 seconds
Thus: Inventory a library with a cleaningtape in a bay is cleaning the drive automatically, too!
