Inventory Agents for SQL Server x64 in NS 6.5 Problems

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for some help with inventory agents for MS SQL Server. I have servers with SQL 2000 32bit, SQL 2005, 32bit, and some with SQL 2005 64bit. All of my SQL servers are in the correct collections "Servers", and "SQL Servers". They also all have the server, and SQL server inventory agents installed on them. Now my problem is this: I get all of the database information from the 32bit instances of SQL Server but I don't get any information from the 64bit SQL server. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue or made any custom inventory agents that I could try out for this? We are in the midst of moving all of our SQL servers over to 64bit and I really like all of the extra information.

Not supported

64 bit OSs are not supported by the Inventory Pack for Servers in either 6.x or 7.x at present.  It's in the release notes.

cool thanks for that Jeff. I

cool thanks for that Jeff. I must've completely skipped over that part.

N/P

I beat my head against that wall for a while before I saw it too...

Some of the Inventory stuff for servers comes back on 64 bit...just not the really useful stuff!

Solution

Hi Jeff,

I start few month ago with the same problem and in the meanwhile I wrote an owner vb script. This script read the Logpath of the MS SQL Server from the registry. After that I open the current log file and read out the version information. If this what you looking for feel free to contact me.

Regards Marc

Great Info

Marc I sent you a message. I think just putting together a script though would be good enough fro my uses.
