This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi there,

I starting to feel a bit stupid:

In NS6 you enabled one rule to forward all inventory to another NS (GRS), how does this work in NS7?

Ive enabled Replication rules for all events, items and resources to be sent on a daily basis, but i am unable to run compliance report etc on my GRS.
The rules show that it has successfully run. I must be missing something?

Please if anyone can assist or point me to some documentation, i would really appreciate it.

Thanks
E

Hello, I did this some time

Hello,

I did this some time ago, and you have to select not only what resources you want to forward info, but what dataclases are also forwarded. For example, the AddRemovePrograms dataclass is not under inventory but under the node "Software"

Also make sure you have the right permissions on the objects you want to view on both servers, sometimes the reports are filtered or limted to some resources and you need permissions on this to see the report results

Hope this helps
Regards
Santi

What!?

Hi Santi,

Thanks for the reply.

So you are syaing that i need to set up replication for resources and then replication for dataclasses that i want to view on my GRS?

Hi E, In the replication rule

Hi E,

In the replication rule you have four items to configure:

  • Resources (by type or target)
  • Data Clasess
  • Destination Server
  • Credentials

If next to Data Clasess you see "(0) - None Selected" you are not replicating what you want to see in your reporting server. Click on the link and browse the data classes you want to forward.

Regards
Santi

Ah....

Thanks Santi, i did click the data classes link but it had no entries, i only noticed that that i had to click on the dropdown to select.
I selected everything under inventory, will review tomorrow.

Thanx again.

Cheers
E

Depends

On the number of resources, number of data classes, etc.

Forwarding, particularly of software data, is immensely more intensive in V7.  Best practice recommendation is to forward only summary data, and have reports "drill through" to the source NS for detail data when/if needed.
