Inventory Job Stuck in Schedule (For Years)...

NOTE: Using Veritas Backup Exec for Windows Servers ver 9.1, rev 4691, SP5. The OS is Windows Server 2003 (Fully Updated).

 

Hello

The attached image shows my problem; I have an inventory job that somehow became scheduled on 8/25/2011, and now is impossible to delete, run or cancel. The job type is shown as UNKNOWN.

I've tried shutting down the service, adding and removing the device, pausing the server and the server SQL Service with no luck. It's not causing a problem, just annoyance by being there. That's why it's been there so long. This is a production server, but it is due to be de-commissioned in the near future, so I would really like to solve this problem before that happens. This will haunt me for years to come if I don't find a solution before then.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. Understand, I may not be able to perform all suggested remedies because this is a working server with daily user activity.

Hi,

 

Open up BEutility.exe and run a repair of the Backup Exec database.

You can also try to Pause the BE server (done under Devices) and then delete the job.
