    Hi all,

Inventory Solution 6.1 is not capturing all instances of Windows Project on our managed computers. I have edited the auditpls.ini file to exclude all directories except Microsoft Office on two PCs, one PC that is report Project and one that is not. I then renamed auditpls.ini to Audit_Project.ini and moved the aexauditpls.exe and the Audit_Project.ini to a test directory and I ran the following commad-line "aexauditpls.exe /output xml /o C:\test_Inventory /ini Audit_Project.ini /dd". There are no errors present and the scan simply does not capture Project on one but does on the other. If I run the scan in "File" mode then it captures winproj.exe on both machines.

Why is the scan not capturing Windows Project on both PCs in "Package" Mode?

    Thanks for any help!!!

was the process used to minimize the scanning effects on client systems, while still gaining the majority of the information. For example, you could find winword.exe and by reading the file header properties, Altiris could then determine that MS Office Suite was available. Then it could stop scanning the directory and move on.

So, you got the results you wanted (I have x number of computers with Office 2003 installed), however you were missing installed instances of excel.exe, etc.

That is where file mode comes in. You get EVERY .exe, and more complete data, with the tradeoff of longer scan times and potentially more client impact.
