Hi. Can Symantec DLP be used to preform IP and GEO Fencing? At first glance I can see only one feature that can allow for both these features in DLP 10 is Endpoint User Groups.

Hi,

You need to be more specific as for your needs.
about IP Fencing, you will be able to create blocking rules based on Corporate network/Off corporate networks.
About GEO Fencing, by concept you could create a GEO-Tag for incidents if you use Symantec DLP+Altiris+ your own development, but it wont come out of the box.
About User Groups, you are able to enforce policies for specified AD Groups.
If you could ask more specific questions and give me a "real-life situation" I will be able to respond more directly.

Hi, Our client has provided

Hi,

Our client has provided the following requirements within their RFI.

  1. Manage, Monitor and Protect device and the Data via IP fencing capabilities.
  2. Manage, Monitor and Protect device and the Data via GEO fencing capabilities.

I cannot get any more specific than this for the time being.

It would be hard for me to assist with these requirements

Because, I need to understand what does it mean "Via IP/GEO fencing capabilities"
this means they have an IP/GEO solution they want to integrate with? or the requirement is that the DLP product would have these capabilities (By the way, as far as i know there is no DLP product vendor that has GEO fencing out of the box).
If you get any more information you are more then welcome to ask me.
Kind Regards,
