This issue has been solved. See solution.

Does anyone know if SEP supports IPv6 deployments?
(Firewall, NAC, general communication with SEPM, Agent push, and so on)

H

till now SEP does not support IPV6

IPv4 and IPv6 are two network layer protocols that are used on the Internet. The firewall blocks attacks that travel through IPv4, but not through IPV6 by default its blocked.

You may check this link for more info.

Just to add

Symantec Endpoint Protection and IPv6

Symantec AntiVirus is bundled with Symantec Endpoint Protection  SEP includes the Symantec Client Firewall, which does not support IPv6. By default, the Symantec Client Firewall will block all incoming and outgoing IPv6 traffic. When you install Symantec Endpoint Protection suite on Windows Vista, it will disable Vista's built-in firewall (which supports IPv6). Thus, installing Symantec Endpoint Protection Suite on Windows Vista breaks IPv6.

If you want to use Symantec Endpoint Protection Suite and have IPv6 working, you should not install the firewall component of Symantec Endpoint Protection Suite. In this case, you will need to use Windows' built-in firewall for both IPv4 and IPv6.

Hi Rafeeq Thanks for your

Hi Rafeeq

Thanks for your response.
So, an ipv6 only network would not work with SEP, as SEP would not be able to communicate to SEPM, correct?

I'm investigating our readiness for IPv6 in our Network, and which Applications will need further attention/push on the products themselve :)
We can't close our eyes for IPv6, it will come - sooner or later.

Cheers

It is indeed coming, but for

It is indeed coming, but for now it's a less secure, more vulnerable protocol and it isn't needed internally........ so we turn it off. It's caused a few issues here, actually, on those machines that we had it active on for a while.
Not sure it's fully safe and ready for prime-time, but then neither is any version of Windows LOL and we all need to deal with that!  ;-)

Unless RU5 deals with it, so far, no for SEP.

 Thats correct SEP won't

Thats correct SEP won't communicate on IPV6 -ONLY network ..and the Firewall won't block anything inside IPV6 network.
