Isolation using Manifests

I've recently been looking at using Manifest Isolation with Wise Package Studio V7. Through 'playing' and reading articles on this site and others I believe I have a basic understanding but there is one aspect I don't fully understand.

Take a component which contains a DLL or OCX file, in the component view in WFWI it will typically display the file, registry and advertising information if appropriate. I decide I want to isolate this file so I create the XML which will include the advertising information. Presumably now I can remove the advertising information from the component as it is no longer required. Now I am left with the registry information and this is where I am confused, what action should I take with this information, presumably some or all of it is still required. If it is still required should it be left in its original component or moved to a new one. Either way it seems there is a possibility that it could be removed by uninstallation of another application because it won't be protected by component counting.

Appreciate any views on this.

Ideally all the com information

should go into the manifest. How are you making the manifest ? Are you using any 3rd party tool.I am not sure about WPS 7.x but with WPS 5.x the manifests were not up to the mark.
Download the program from: http://www.mazecomputer.com/sxs.htm
Its a trial version and if you like it you can buy the license.
